Description
Sealing Tape ePTFE is made from 100% pure expanded PTFE and is an excellent solution for sealing flange connections. Thanks to its expanded fibre structure, the material easily adapts to irregular, damaged or not perfectly flat sealing surfaces. Small irregularities are effectively compensated, creating a reliable seal even at relatively low flange pressures.
The tape is resistant to virtually all chemicals, acids and alkalis and retains its properties at temperatures from -200°C to 260°C. The single-sided adhesive layer serves as an installation aid and allows quick and easy installation. Thanks to the combination of excellent chemical resistance, high pressure resistance and long service life, ePTFE sealing tape is widely used in the chemical industry, process industry, food industry, water treatment, shipping and equipment manufacturing.
Behaviour under flange pressure
Expanded PTFE deforms in a controlled manner under pressure. This fills irregularities in the sealing surface and creates a reliable seal. In the process, the tape becomes wider and considerably thinner. At a surface pressure of 10 N/mm², the tape becomes approximately 15 to 35% wider and retains about 28 to 40% of its original thickness. At 20 N/mm² this is about 24 to 32% and at 30 N/mm² about 20 to 28%, while the width then increases to approximately 1.7 to 1.9 times the original width.
By way of illustration: at 30 N/mm², a 3 x 1.5 mm tape becomes approximately 5.7 x 0.30 mm, a 10 x 3.0 mm tape approximately 17.8 x 0.85 mm and a 20 x 7.0 mm tape approximately 36.0 x 1.40 mm.

Installation advice
The single-sided adhesive layer serves solely as a positioning and installation aid.
- Check and clean the sealing surfaces.
- Remove the protective film and apply the tape without stretching it.
- Overlap the ends according to the prescribed installation method.
- Close the connection and tighten the bolts evenly and crosswise to the prescribed tightening torque.
- Check the seal in accordance with the applicable installation regulations.
The stated temperature and pressure values are indicative. Actual suitability depends on factors such as the medium, operating pressure, operating temperature, flange design and available bolt load. Maximum values do not necessarily apply simultaneously.
