Not every rubber product needs to be processed; many products are supplied ready to use. For custom work, SCHIEMA has several cutting plotters that cut rubber to an accuracy of hundredths of a millimetre. Rubber can also be punched and bonded, and SCHIEMA offers services including vulcanisation, extrusion and moulding.

An example is a large sealing ring. SCHIEMA buys rubber as a semi-finished product on rolls, for example in lengths of 50 metres and with a thickness of 35 to 40 millimetres. Based on the required inside and outside diameters, a ring is made from this and bonded into a finished product.

Because the right hose always depends on the application. A common misconception is that a hose is just a hose: after all, they are often black and made of rubber. In reality, hoses differ considerably in lining, reinforcement, pressure resistance and temperature range.

That is why SCHIEMA does not rely on assumptions, but asks further: what is the medium, what is the temperature, what is the pressure and how will the hose be used? A simple water hose, for example, is not suitable for aggressive or hydrocarbon-containing residues, as these would attack the hose. By asking the right questions up front, you get a hose that suits your application and lasts longer from the start.
