Which products are specifically suitable for maritime applications?

In tank transport and storage and handling, the following hoses are used, among others:

• NARCORFLEX® ABRADURA for abrasive dry bulk
• FLOWINFLEX® MULTIPURPUS for air, water and mildly aggressive chemicals
• FLOWINFLEX® MULTIRESCORE for a very wide range of chemicals
• NARCORFLEX® OILROUNDER and FLOWINFLEX® OILOHM for oil and fuels
• LIQFOOD-16-SD for liquid foodstuffs, such as milk

For connections, dry disconnect couplings, tanker couplings (TW), cam and groove couplings (camlock) and flanges in DIN and ANSI sizes are used.

These sectors impose additional requirements because large volumes of hazardous or sensitive products are moved and connections are made and broken frequently. Leakage, vapours and product mixing must be prevented, and with flammable products, static electricity must be safely dissipated.

The (petro)chemical industry sets higher requirements for chemical resistance, safety and electrical conductivity than general industry. In practice, this means:

• an inner lining resistant to the specific media, such as UHMWPE for acids, alkalis and hydrocarbons
• electrical conductivity from coupling to coupling for use in ATEX zones
• dry disconnect couplings that release no drop or vapour on disconnection, optionally with selectivity coding so that products cannot be mixed up
• flange connections that cannot open unintentionally, even at high pressure
• dedicated hoses per product to prevent mixing

In general industry, a multipurpose hose is often sufficient, such as the FLOWINFLEX® MULTIPURPUS for air, water and mildly aggressive chemicals. Also view all chemically resistant hoses.
